Agriculture in Las Cruces
After breakfast on Sunday we drove about a half mile to the Rio Grande and first saw a mysterious looking field. Upon closer examination we found it to be a field of summer onions that had just been harvest and bagged.

Next we saw a field of chili pepper.

And then a field of cabbage that had been harvested. It had a foul odor from the rotting plants left in the field.

There were also some small cotton fields. All these little fields are irrigated with Rio Grande water brought by irrigation canals that snake through the neighborhood. At least these fields are small compared to West Texas fields!
